Turmeric - The Power root.
Turmeric is believed to be a powerful weapon against inflammation which is a root cause of many health conditions, blocking the inflammatory response pathway and conveying a protective benefit. It has been shown to increase antioxidant capacity, helping to fight free radical damage. Turmeric use boosts the immune system, eases joint pain, may help to prevent and treat cancer; protects the heart, boosts ones mood, heal the gut, improve long term cognitive function and might stave off neurodegenerative diseases.
As curcumin, which is the main active ingredient in turmeric, is not absorbed very well into the bloodstream, consuming it with black pepper helps to enhance absorption due to its piperine content.
Make turmeric lattes and milk for use in smoothies with coconut and almond milk and cinnamon for a super charged daily drink. Use in your favourite salad dressing, smoothie, green juice, curry and meat seasoning (combined with black pepper, ginger, paprika and garlic- yum!).
